I love taking engagements. The atmosphere is usually relaxed and you get a chance to really see a couple's personality. Here are a few examples from past weddings.

Russ & Jenna
What can I say about Jenna and Russ? The two are so much fun. I grew up with Jenna and love her to death. She and Russ make the perfect pair. Here are a few of my favorite pictures from an engagement session last month. We shot at Pierpont in downtown Salt Lake and at Memory Grove.
Shawn & Brittany
I was so thrilled when Shawn called me last year to ask if I would shoot his wedding. I've known Shawn most my life and have become good friends with the family of his bride-to-be. I knew it would be a blast to hang out with these two and take part in their wedding day. Here are a few engagements we shot last month at Gardner Village. They're getting married in May.

Brooke & Andrew: the Wedding
Brooke & Andrew: the Reception
Here are a few of my favorite shots from Brooke and Andrew's reception. It was at Le Jardin, at the Rose Shop, in Sandy. I love shooting here because it's absolutely beautiful. For those who haven't been there, it's a greenhouse, with winding pathways that lead throughout the building.
Instead of a traditional bouquet, Brooke threw a dozen single roses.

Brooke & Andrew
I was excited when Andrew called me this December to see if I would shoot his wedding. I've known him most my life, but didn't meet his wife-to-be until our bridal session in early January. What a beautiful person! She was so easy-going, photogenic, and a blast to talk with.
Here are a few of my favorites from her bridal session. We shot at both the Joseph Smith Memorial Building and the Cathedral of the Madeline. I'll post some from the wedding later on.

It's about time
After eight years shooting wedding and family photos, I've decided it's finally time to get up-to-date with the digital age and post some of my photographs online. Plus, I have a little more time on my hands now that I'm a full-time mommy.
So here's my attempt. If all goes well with this blog, who knows, maybe a Web site?! Be sure to tell me your thoughts and comments as we go along. I'll try to post once a week or more.

What should I wear?
Something that makes you feel good! If you are uncomfortable with your outfit, you will look uncomfortable in your photograph. In addition, bold patterns sometimes work, but for the most part, stick with subtle patterns or solid colors. Add variety to your look with accessories such as a belt, jacket, jewelry, scarf or tie.
Are there colors you prefer for a family photograph?

Are there colors you prefer for a family photograph?
I love anything! One way to ensure a large family group is wearing the correct shade is to go to a hardware store, grab some paint samples and tell everyone to match the sample. You can also e-mail me for more specific suggestions.
What should I bring to a bridal session?
Bring your makeup bag for touchups and extra bobby pins for your hair. I always bring a drop cloth to protect your dress. A bouquet is also a good option.
How many images will I receive from my shoot?
It’s hard to give a firm number, because each photo shoot is different. In general, you will receive 30-50 edited images from an hour-long family, child, senior, bridal or engagement session. With weddings, you will generally receive 300 or more edited images from your complete ceremony and reception.
What kind of touch-ups do you do?
My style is classic. I like to keep my images as true-to-life as possible. I don’t super-saturate the images, or do major Photoshop effects (unless you specifically request it). I’ll do minor edits to clear up blemishes or flaws that keep you from looking your best. Major edits such as a head swap are done at an hourly rate.
Can I post my images online?
Yes, but you must include a reference to my name and Web site. Details of how to do this are included in the copyright release you receive with your images.
